Alan Zachary & Michael Weiner met in high school, and upon discovering their mutual passion for musical theatre, they began to collaborate on theatre, film and animated musical projects.  Fast forward to 2009, the duo was recently honored to be asked to perform a night of their songs alongside Stephen Schwartz and Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty at Washington, D.C.’s prestigious Kennedy Center as part of their “Broadway Today & Tomorrow” series, celebrating the current and next generation of Broadway songwriters.  Fulfilling one of their longtime dreams, they are currently composing songs for a Broadway musical adaptation of the New Line Cinema film Secondhand Lions with book by famed playwright, novelist and songwriter Rupert Holmes.     Simultaneously, they are
have heard their irreverent theme song for Folgers Coffee entitled “Happy Morning” which was featured in a popular viral marketing campaign that swept the Internet.

As avid songwriters for the Walt Disney Company, Zachary and Weiner were enlisted by DisneyToon Studios to write songs for Disney’s top selling DVD release, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.  They also wrote book, music and lyrics for the new Disney stage musical, Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story, which premiered on the Disney Cruise Line in May 2005 (cast recording available on Walt Disney Records) and is still going strong.  Both have created live stage shows for Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.  Zachary and Weiner have also written songs, provided arrangements for and acted as music consultants on Disney’s Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, Alice in Wonderland Special Edition DVD, The Fox and the Hound II and The Three Musketeers.

Separately, Alan Zachary contributed music and lyrics to Dreamworks Pictures’ The Time Machine, and Michael Weiner composed the score for Fine Line Features’ Man of the Century as well as the upcoming stage musical Liberty Smith, which has been seen at NAMT, NYMF and will premiere in the 2010-2011 season at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Last year, Zachary and Weiner wrote the score for an upcoming children’s musical produced by Theatreworks/USA entitled The Bailey School Kids, collaborating with acclaimed playwright Kenny Finkle.  In addition, their family musical The Mystery of the Dancing Princesses, has been presented at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, New York State Theatre Institute and the prestigious annual National Alliance for Musical Theatre Festival in Manhattan.
